The year was 1995, so called 'Gangsta Rap' had taken the
music industry by storm and at the forefront was the infamous Death Row records.
Death Row's first LP Dr Dre's 'The Chronic" had set the
world on fire, their second LP DoggyStyle the debut album from Snoop Doggy Dogg
had become an instant classic and the labels third release "Murder Was The Case"
had pushed the boundaries with both a short film and full length album of the
same name.
On all three of Death Row's first releases a young duo
known as the "The Dogg Pound" guest appeared on several songs and hip hop
fans were anticipating a full length release from the two and it came in the
form of the album "Dogg Food".
With Kurupt's dynamic wordplay and Daz Dillinger's raw
street feel the album went triple platinum and both MC's became a
part of hip hop history.
Flash forward to 2010 and Death Row Records is back with
some more Kurupt for your muthaphukin ass.
It might be ipods instead of discmans these days but one
thing that hasn't changed is that Kurupt was and still is one of the best
lyricists outta the West Coast.
This new offering titled "Down And Dirty" is a collection
